 AN ACT to amend the penal law, in relation to mandatory dispositions and
   commission of a felony offense while in possession of a firearm
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

   Section  1.  The penal law is amended by adding a new section 60.14 to
 read as follows:
 § 60.14 MANDATORY DISPOSITIONS; COMMISSION OF A FELONY OFFENSE WHILE  IN
           POSSESSION OF A FIREARM.
   WHEN A PERSON IS CONVICTED OF A FELONY OFFENSE THAT HAS BEEN COMMITTED
 WHILE  IN  THE  POSSESSION  OR  ACCOMPANIMENT  OF A FIREARM, THE COURT'S
 SENTENCE OF SUCH DEFENDANT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF  ARTICLE
 SEVENTY  OF  THIS TITLE SHALL INCLUDE A MANDATORY ADDITIONAL SENTENCE OF
 IMPRISONMENT FOR FIVE YEARS.
   § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of November next succeed-
 ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
