BILL NUMBER: S8106 SPONSOR: SANDERS TITLE OF BILL: An act to extend absentee voting to all residents for all primaries or special elections occurring before June 24, 2020 PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This bill would extend absentee voting to all residents for all prima- ries or special elections occurring before June 24, 2020. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1 states that a qualified voter may vote as an absentee voter in any primary or special election that occurs before June 24, 2020 provided that all other applicable provisions under title 4 of article 8 of the election law are adhered to. Section 2 sets the effective date.

SANDERS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Elections AN ACT to extend absentee voting to all residents for all primaries or special elections occurring before June 24, 2020 THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding section 8-400 of the election law or any other provision to the contrary, a qualified voter may vote as an absen- tee voter in any primary or special election that occurs before June 24, 2020 provided that all other applicable provisions under title 4 of article 8 of the election law are adhered to. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD15963-01-0
