 Introduced  by Sen. HARCKHAM -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
   printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules
 
 AN ACT to provide for a special district meeting  for  a  school  budget
   revote; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon the expi-
   ration thereof
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of  law,  whenever  the
 voters  have  defeated  a  budget at an annual meeting and election held
 June 9, 2020 pursuant to executive order number 202.26 of  two  thousand
 twenty, the board of education or trustees of a school district may call
 a  special district meeting for a school budget revote to be held on the
 fourth Tuesday in July.  Such  board  of  education  or  trustees  shall
 provide  notice of such special district meeting to the qualified voters
 in the same manner prescribed for notice of a special  meeting  pursuant
 to  the education law except that such notice shall provide for a budget
 hearing not less than seven nor more than twenty-one days prior  to  the
 special district meeting at which a school budget vote will occur.
   §  2.  This  act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be
 deemed repealed September 30, 2020.
