FAHY -- read once and referred to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs AN ACT to amend the mental hygiene law, in relation to providing infor- mation on where to seek help in regards to military sexual trauma THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 7.09 of the mental hygiene law is amended by adding a new subdivision (l) to read as follows: (L) THE COMMISSIONER SHALL DISSEMINATE INFORMATION TO VETERANS REGARD- ING WHICH UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS MEDICAL CENTERS, OUTPATIENT CLINICS, COMMUNITY-BASED OUTPATIENT CLINICS, VET CENTERS OR OTHER UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS FACILITIES VETERANS CAN SEEK TREATMENT, COUNSELLING AND RESOURCES FOR MILITARY SEXUAL TRAUMA EXPERIENCED WHILE ON ACTIVE DUTY OR DURING MILITARY TRAINING. SUCH INFORMATION SHALL BE POSTED ON THE OFFICE'S WEBSITE WITH A LINK TO THE WEBSITE OF THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS AND A LINK TO THE WEBSITE OF THE STATE DIVISION OF VETERANS' AFFAIRS. § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the commissioner of mental health shall promulgate any rules and regulations necessary for the implementation of this act on or before its effective date. FAHY -- read once and referred to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to providing information on where to seek help in regards to military sexual trauma THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 353 of the executive law is amended by adding a new subdivision 24 to read as follows: 24. TO PROVIDE INFORMATION REGARDING RESOURCES THAT ARE AVAILABLE TO ASSIST VETERANS WHO EXPERIENCED MILITARY SEXUAL TRAUMA WHILE ON ACTIVE DUTY OR DURING MILITARY TRAINING, BY MAINTAINING A MILITARY SEXUAL TRAU- MA PORTAL ON THE DIVISION'S INTERNET WEBSITE. SUCH PORTAL SHALL PROVIDE VIRTUAL LINKS TO APPROPRIATE GOVERNMENTAL PROGRAMS ON THE FEDERAL AND STATE LEVELS. THE DIVISION MAY CONSULT WITH THE OFFICE OF MENTAL HEALTH AND THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH. THE DIVISION SHALL MAKE REFERENCE TO THIS INFORMATION PROVIDED PURSUANT TO SUBDIVISIONS FOUR-A AND FOUR-B OF THIS SECTION AND IN THE ANNUAL REPORT TO THE GOVERNOR AND THE LEGISLATURE REQUIRED PURSUANT TO SUBDIVISION ELEVEN OF THIS SECTION. SUCH INFORMA- TION REQUIRED UNDER THIS SUBDIVISION SHALL BE MAINTAINED AND UPDATED ANNUALLY. § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law. Effective immediately the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rules and regulations necessary for the implementation of this act on or before its effective date are authorized to be made and completed on or before such effective date.
