CRUZ -- read once and referred to the Committee on Mental Health AN ACT to amend the mental hygiene law, in relation to reviewing suicide prevention programs periodically THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 7.07 of the mental hygiene law is amended by adding a new subdivision (h) to read as follows: (H) THE OFFICE SHALL PERIODICALLY REVIEW SUICIDE PREVENTION PROGRAMS ESTABLISHED, LICENSED, CERTIFIED, OR FUNDED BY THE OFFICE TO ENSURE THAT THE NEEDS OF INDIVIDUALS AT RISK OF SUICIDE ARE BEING MET AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS TO IMPROVE SUCH PROGRAMS, WHICH SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO: (1) CULTURAL AND LINGUISTIC COMPETENCY; AND (2) BEST PRAC- TICES FOR SCREENING AND INTERVENTIONS AIMED AT ADDRESSING SUICIDE RISK FACTORS FOR MINORITY GROUPS AND OTHER UNDERREPRESENTED POPULATIONS. § 2.
