AN ACT relating to authorizing the village of  Lewiston  to  reduce  the
  speed limit on certain public roadways

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Pursuant to section 1643 of the vehicle  and  traffic  law,
the  village  of  Lewiston  in the town of Lewiston in Niagara county is
hereby authorized and empowered to lower the speed limit to 25 miles per
hour on Center Street, in the village of Lewiston provided the governing
body of such village shall establish such  speed  limit  by  local  law,
ordinance, order, rule or regulation.
  § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
