BILL NUMBER: S3140 SPONSOR: MYRIE TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the election law, in relation to publishing local campaign contribution limits PURPOSE: To increase transparency and awareness regarding local campaign contrib- ution limits SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: This bill amends section 14-114 of the Election Law to provide for local boards of election to calculate and publish on their websites by April 15th, the contribution limits for all county, town, city, and village offices on the ballot in that year.

MYRIE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Elections AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to publishing local campaign contribution limits THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 14-114 of the election law is amended by adding a new subdivision 11 to read as follows: 11. A BOARD OF ELECTIONS, AS DEFINED IN SUBDIVISION TWENTY-SIX OF SECTION 1-104 OF THIS CHAPTER, SHALL CALCULATE AND PUBLISH ON ITS WEBSITE, ON OR BEFORE THE FIFTEENTH DAY OF APRIL, ALL CONTRIBUTION LIMITS ESTABLISHED PURSUANT TO THIS SECTION FOR THE COUNTY, TOWN, CITY AND VILLAGE OFFICES ON THE BALLOT IN THAT YEAR, AND WITHIN THE SAME TIME PERIOD PROVIDE SUCH CALCULATED CONTRIBUTION LIMITS TO THE STATE BOARD OF ELECTIONS IN THE FORMAT REQUIRED BY SUCH BOARD. § 2. This act shall take effect on the fifteenth of December next succeeding the date on which it shall have become a law.
