BILL NUMBER: S3695 SPONSOR: BAILEY TITLE OF BILL: An act to repeal section 50-a of the civil rights law, relating to personnel records of police officers, firefighters and correction officers PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This bill would repeal Section 50-a of the civil rights law. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section one of the bill repeals section 50-a. of the civil rights law. Section two is the effective date. JUSTIFICATION: 50-a of the New York State Civil Rights Law permits law enforcement

BAILEY, SEPULVEDA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Codes AN ACT to repeal section 50-a of the civil rights law, relating to personnel records of police officers, firefighters and correction officers THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 50-a of the civil rights law is REPEALED. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
