BILL NUMBER: S6421 SPONSOR: MYRIE TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the election law, in relation to party committee meeting and organization requirements PURPOSE: This bill would ensure that the timeframe for political parties to meet and organize their county committees would fit within the new political calendar necessitated by a newly combined state and federal June prima- ry. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of the bill amends subdivision 1 of § 2-112 of the election law to require every county committee to hold its organization meeting between September 17th and October 6th following the June primary. The bill further provides clarification that until such organization meeting occurs, the legal authority to act resides with the existing county committee, which then transfers to the newly authorized county committee
