BILL NUMBER: S6502 SPONSOR: SERRANO TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to prohibiting the use of glyphosate on state property PURPOSE: This bill prohibits the use of glyphosate on state property. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section one amends section 33-1301 of the environmental conservation law by adding a new subdivision 13. Section two sets forth the effective date. JUSTIFICATION: Glyphosate was first registered as an herbicide in the United States in 1974. This chemical is the active ingredient in many common weed killer

Section 33-1301 of the environmental conservation law is amended by adding a new subdivision 13 to read as follows: 13. FOR ANY STATE DEPARTMENT, AGENCY, PUBLIC BENEFIT CORPORATION OR ANY PESTICIDE APPLICATOR EMPLOYED THEREBY AS A CONTRACTOR OR SUBCONTRAC- TOR TO APPLY GLYPHOSATE ON STATE PROPERTY. § 2.
