AN ACT in relation to requiring SUNY and CUNY schools to refund students
  for housing credits and boarding charges used or charged for the peri-
  od of time when such schools are closed or shut down due to the  coro-
  navirus pandemic

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of  law,  all  colleges
and  universities  of  the  state  university  of  New York and the city
university of New York that close or shut down as a result of the  coro-
navirus  pandemic shall refund to each student attending such college or
university, on a pro-rata basis, that portion  of  housing  credits  and
boarding charges used or charged for the period beginning March 11, 2020
and  ending  on  the  date  such  college or university was scheduled to
compete all classes and examinations for the spring semester of the 2020
academic year.
  §  2. Such pro rata amount required to be refunded pursuant to section
one of this act shall be determined individually  by  each  college  and
university  of  the state university of New York and the city university
of New York.
  §  3. This act shall take effect immediately.
