 Introduced  by  Sen. JACKSON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
   printed to be committed to the Committee on Education
 
 AN ACT to amend the education  law,  in  relation  to  suspending  state
   assessments during a state disaster emergency
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

   Section 1. Section 305 of the education law is amending  by  adding  a
 new subdivision 59 to read as follows:
   59.  WHENEVER A STATE DISASTER EMERGENCY IS DECLARED PURSUANT TO ARTI-
 CLE TWO-B OF THE  EXECUTIVE  LAW,  THE  COMMISSIONER  SHALL  IMMEDIATELY
 SUSPEND  ALL  STATE  ASSESSMENTS. SUCH SUSPENSION SHALL REMAIN IN EFFECT
 FOR A PERIOD OF THIRTY DAYS AFTER  SUCH  STATE  DISASTER  EMERGENCY  HAS
 ENDED.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
