BILL NUMBER: S8333 SPONSOR: SEWARD TITLE OF BILL: An act to authorize Thomas J. Carinci, Jr. to take the competitive civil service examination and be placed on the eligible civil service list for employment as a full-time police officer for the city of Little Falls PURPOSE: To provide the city of Little Falls the opportunity to offer Mr. Carinci a full time position with the police department upon his satisfactory performance on the relevant civil service examination. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of the bill deems Mr. Carinci eligible to sit for the compet- itive civil service examination for police officer and, contingent on his score, shall be eligible to be placed on the list for appointment as a full-time police officer in the city of Little Falls. SEWARD -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions AN ACT to authorize Thomas J. Carinci, Jr. to take the competitive civil service examination and be placed on the eligible civil service list for employment as a full-time police officer for the city of Little Falls THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil service law, or any other provision of law to the contrary, Thomas J. Carinci, Jr., employed by the city of Little Falls, in the county of Herkimer, as a part-time police officer, shall be eligible to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of police officer and shall, contingent upon his score on such examination, be eligible to be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a full-time police officer for the city of Little Falls. § 2. Thomas J. Carinci, Jr. shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time police officers. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
