BILL NUMBER: S8522 SPONSOR: HELMING TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to authorizing hunting big game by rifle in the county of Tompkins; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof PURPOSE: This bill would authorize the hunting of big game through the use of a rifle in all of Tompkins County. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Sections 1 through 4 amend sections of the environmental conservation law to allow for rifle hunting in Tompkins County and section 5 estab- lishes the effective date.

HELMING -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to authorizing hunting big game by rifle in the county of Tompkins; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph a of subdivision 2 of section 11-0907 of the environmental conservation law is amended by adding a new item (o) to read as follows: (O) THE COUNTY OF DEER, THE FIRST PISTOL, SHOTGUN, TOMPKINS SATURDAY AFTER NOVEMBER CROSSBOW, MUZZLE 15 THROUGH FIRST SUNDAY LOADING FIREARM, AFTER DECEMBER 7 RIFLE OR LONG BOW § 2. Item (f) of paragraph a of subdivision 2 of section 11-0907 of the environmental conservation law, as separately amended by chapters 125 and 243 of the laws of 2017, is amended to read as follows: (f) Southern tier, Deer, first Pistol, shotgun, central and Western Monday after November crossbow, region, except those 15 through first muzzle loading counties or portions Tuesday after firearm or thereof listed in December 7 long bow only item (i), (j), (k), (l), (m) [or], (n) OR (O) of this paragraph § 3. Paragraph a of subdivision 2 of section 11-0907 of the environ- mental conservation law is amended by adding a new item (m) to read as follows: EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
