BILL NUMBER: S8555 SPONSOR: CARLUCCI TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Sandra L. Wilson memorial highway" PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To designate a portion of state route 59 in the Village of Spring Valley as the Sandra L. Wilson memorial highway. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1 adds a new § 344-1 of the Highway Law designating a portion of the state highway system the "Sandra L. Wilson memorial highway". The portion of state route 59 between state route 45 and west central avenue in the village of Spring Valley, town of Ramapo, county of Rockland, shall be designated and known as the "Sandra L. Wilson memorial high- way".

Wilson memorial highway" THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-l to read as follows: § 344-L. PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE "SANDRA L. WILSON MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". THE PORTION OF STATE ROUTE 59 BETWEEN STATE ROUTE 45 AND WEST CENTRAL AVENUE IN THE VILLAGE OF SPRING VALLEY, TOWN OF RAMAPO, COUNTY OF ROCKLAND, SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS THE "SANDRA L. WILSON MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be changed as a result of this act. § 3.
