BILL NUMBER: S8589 SPONSOR: KAPLAN TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the alcoholic beverage control law, in relation to the hours during which liquor and/or wine stores may be open on Sunday PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This legislation would permit liquor and wine stores to open on Sundays as early as 10 AM. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1: Amends Subparagraph (i) of paragraph (a) of subdivision 14 of section 105 of the ABC law, to change the time liquor and wine stores may open on Sundays from Noon to 10 AM. Section 2 establishes the effective date.

KAPLAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the alcoholic beverage control law, in relation to the hours during which liquor and/or wine stores may be open on Sunday THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subparagraph (i) of paragraph (a) of subdivision 14 of section 105 of the alcoholic beverage control law, as amended by section 1 of part U of chapter 63 of the laws of 2003, is amended to read as follows: (i) On Sunday before [twelve] TEN o'clock [post meridian] ANTE MERIDI- AN and after nine o'clock post meridian. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD16678-01-0
