BILL NUMBER: S9098 SPONSOR: KAPLAN TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system in the village of North Hills as the "Corporal Matthew A. Falcone Memorial Bridge" PURPOSE: This legislation renames the Shelter Rock Ridge Road Bridge in North Hills, which goes over the Long Island Expressway the "Corporal Matthew A. Falcone Memorial Bridge." SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 renames the bridge over interstate 495 (Long Island Expressway aka LIE) in the village of North Hills, town of North Hempstead, County of Nassau designed as the "Corporal Matthew A. Falcone Memorial Bridge."

KAPLAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system in the village of North Hills as the "Corpo- ral Matthew A. Falcone Memorial Bridge" THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-m to read as follows: § 344-M. PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE "CORPORAL MATTHEW A. FALCONE MEMORIAL BRIDGE". THE BRIDGE CROSSING OVER INTERSTATE FOUR HUNDRED NINETY-FIVE IN THE VILLAGE OF NORTH HILLS, TOWN OF NORTH HEMPSTEAD, COUNTY OF NASSAU, CURRENTLY KNOWN AS THE SHELTER ROCK ROAD BRIDGE, SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS THE "CORPORAL MATTHEW A. FALCONE MEMORIAL BRIDGE". § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such bridge shall not be changed as a result of this act. § 3.
