 AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to  the  ceremo-
   nial designation of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Mid-Hudson bridge as
   the "Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Mid-Hudson Bridge"

   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. The public authorities law  is  amended  by  adding  a  new
 section 526-c to read as follows:
   §  526-C. CEREMONIAL DESIGNATION OF THE FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT MID-
 HUDSON BRIDGE. 1.  THE FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT MID-HUDSON  BRIDGE,  AS
 DEFINED  IN  SUBDIVISION FIVE OF SECTION FIVE HUNDRED TWENTY-SIX OF THIS
 TITLE, SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS THE "FRANKLIN AND ELEANOR ROOSE-
 VELT MID-HUDSON BRIDGE".
   2. THE CHAIRPERSON OF  THE  NEW  YORK  STATE  BRIDGE  AUTHORITY  SHALL
 PROVIDE  FOR THE INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF ADEQUATE SIGNING OF THE
 STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM AS DESIGNATED PURSUANT TO SUBDIVISION ONE  OF  THIS
 SECTION WITHIN SUCH TIME AND IN SUCH MANNER AS THEY SHALL DEEM APPROPRI-
 ATE. HOWEVER, TO AVOID CONFUSION AND TO LIMIT ANY POSSIBLE DISRUPTION OF
 COMMERCE, THE DESIGNATION CALLED FOR PURSUANT TO SUBDIVISION ONE OF THIS
 SECTION  SHALL BE ONE OF CEREMONIAL NATURE AND THE OFFICIAL NAME OF SUCH
 BRIDGE SHALL NOT BE CHANGED AS A RESULT OF THIS SECTION.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
