 AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to requiring  adult
   care  facilities to include quality assurance committees and include a
   focus on infection control in such facilities' quality assurance plans

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1. Section 20 of the social services law is amended by adding
 a new subdivision 9 to read as follows:
   9. THE DEPARTMENT SHALL:
   (A) REQUIRE QUALITY ASSURANCE COMMITTEES ARE IN EACH ADULT CARE FACIL-
 ITY'S QUALITY ASSURANCE PLAN;
   (B) REQUIRE EACH ADULT CARE  FACILITY'S  QUALITY  ASSURANCE  COMMITTEE
 INCLUDES  PARTICIPATION FROM FRONT-LINE EMPLOYEES, RESIDENTS, AND FAMILY
 MEMBERS OF RESIDENTS; AND
   (C) REQUIRE THAT INFECTION CONTROL IS  A  FOCUS  OF  EACH  ADULT  CARE
 FACILITY'S QUALITY ASSURANCE PLAN.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
