 AN  ACT  to  amend the general city law, in relation to requiring that a
   master plumber inspect a premises within twenty-four hours  of  a  gas
   leak in order to reopen gas lines
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. The general city law is amended by  adding  a  new  section
 18-e to read as follows:
   §   18-E.   TIMELINESS   OF  THE  INSPECTIONS  FOLLOWING  GAS  SERVICE
 DISRUPTIONS. IN A CITY WITH A POPULATION OF  FIVE  HUNDRED  THOUSAND  OR
 MORE,  IN WHICH AN INSPECTION BY A MASTER PLUMBER IS REQUIRED BEFORE GAS
 SERVICES CAN BE RESTORED FOLLOWING  SUCH  SERVICES  BEING  DISRUPTED,  A
 MASTER  PLUMBER  SHALL INSPECT A RESIDENTIAL PREMISES WITHIN TWENTY-FOUR
 HOURS OF SUCH SERVICES BEING DISRUPTED.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
