BILL NUMBER: S2724 SPONSOR: KRUEGER TITLE OF BILL: An act to require the commissioner of health to conduct a comprehensive health study to determine the dangers of mixed martial arts PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To identify the most salient medical issues that may be associated with the practice of mixed martial arts. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1 authorizes the Commissioner of the Department of Health to conduct a comprehensive health study to determine the dangers to partic- ipants of engaging in mixed martial arts competition events. Section 2 enacts the effective date.

KRUEGER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Health AN ACT to require the commissioner of health to conduct a comprehensive health study to determine the dangers of mixed martial arts THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The commissioner of health is authorized and directed to conduct a comprehensive health study to determine the dangers to partic- ipants of engaging in mixed martial arts competition events. Such study shall be completed within eighteen months of the effective date of this act. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
