BILL NUMBER: S2816 SPONSOR: BROOKS TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the public authorities law, in relation to extending the expiration of Long Island Rail Road tickets purchased before or during the COVID-19 state of emergency PURPOSE: The purpose of this bill is to extend the expiration of one-way and round trips tickets for the Long Island Railroad by one year. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1. amends the public authorities law by adding a new section 1266-1 to provide that one-way and round trip tickets that are valid on the Long Island Railroad will have one year extension for purposes of their expiration if they were purchased before or during the state of emergency that has been declared as a result of the COVID-19 virus.

BROOKS, KAPLAN, GAUGHRAN, KAMINSKY, THOMAS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to extending the expiration of Long Island Rail Road tickets purchased before or during the COVID-19 state of emergency THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The public authorities law is amended by adding a new section 1266-l to read as follows: § 1266-L. LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD TICKET EXTENSION; COVID-19. NOTWITH- STANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF LAW, ANY ONE-WAY OR ROUND TRIP TICKET PURCHASED FOR USE ON THE LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD BEFORE OR DURING THE COVID-19 STATE DISASTER EMERGENCY DECLARED BY EXECUTIVE ORDER NUMBER TWO HUNDRED TWO AND ANY FURTHER AMENDMENTS OR MODIFICATIONS THERETO, AND AS MAY BE FURTHER EXTENDED PURSUANT TO SECTION TWENTY-EIGHT OF THE EXECU- TIVE LAW, SHALL BE VALID FOR ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE. § 2.
