 Introduced  by  Sens.  RIVERA,  BIAGGI,  MYRIE, SALAZAR, SANDERS -- read
   twice and ordered printed, and when printed to  be  committed  to  the
   Committee on Health
 
 AN  ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to including statis-
   tics on childbirth complications, fetal losses, and other injuries  in
   information leaflets for maternity patients
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 2803-j of the public  health  law,
 as  amended  by  chapter  62  of  the  laws of 1996 and paragraph (m) as
 amended by chapter 431 of the laws  of  2004,  is  amended  to  read  as
 follows:
   2.  Such  leaflet shall also include statistics relating to the annual
 percentage of maternity related procedures performed, MATERNAL  OUTCOMES
 AND MATERNAL DEATHS at such hospital or birth center, as provided by the
 commissioner, including but not limited to the following:
   (a)  THE  ANNUAL  NUMBER AND PERCENTAGE OF TOTAL DEATHS RESULTING FROM
 COMPLICATIONS DURING CHILDBIRTH, FOR THE PERIOD BETWEEN  CHILDBIRTH  AND
 SIX  WEEKS  AFTER DELIVERY, AND THE TOP SIX COMPLICATIONS FROM PREGNANCY
 AND DELIVERY THAT RESULT IN SUCH DEATHS BROKEN DOWN BY THE AGE AND  RACE
 OF THE MOTHER;
   (B)  THE ANNUAL NUMBER OF THIRD TRIMESTER FETAL LOSSES AND STILLBIRTHS
 OCCURRING THE HOSPITAL OR BIRTH CENTER;
   (C) THE ANNUAL NUMBER AND PERCENTAGE OF HEMORRHAGES AND INJURIES MOTH-
 ERS SUSTAIN RELATED TO CHILDBIRTH INCLUDING DAMAGE TO TISSUE AND  ORGANS
 DURING  CESAREAN  BIRTH, THIRD AND FOURTH DEGREE TEARING, BROKEN DOWN BY
 THE AGE AND RACE OF THE MOTHER;
   (D) the annual rate of cesarean sections, primary, repeat  and  total,
 performed at such facility;
   [(b)]  (E)  the  annual  percentage  of  women  with previous cesarean
 sections who have had a subsequent successful vaginal birth;
