 Introduced  by  Sen. SANDERS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
   printed to be committed to the Committee on Internet and Technology
 
 AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to printed privacy
   protection policies on  internet  websites,  online  services,  online
   applications  and  mobile  applications  that  collect social security
   numbers
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. The general business law is amended by adding a new section
 390-bbb to read as follows:
   §  390-BBB.  PRIVACY PROTECTION POLICIES. ANY INTERNET WEBSITE, ONLINE
 SERVICE, ONLINE APPLICATION OR MOBILE APPLICATION THAT COLLECTS INDIVID-
 UALS' SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS SHALL POST CLEAR AND CONSPICUOUS NOTICE ON
 THE HOMEPAGE OF ITS OWN WEBSITE ABOUT ITS  PRIVACY  POLICY.  ANY  PERSON
 FOUND TO HAVE VIOLATED THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION SHALL BE GUILTY OF
 A CLASS B  MISDEMEANOR AND SUBJECT TO A TWO HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLAR FINE.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
