   printed to be committed to the Committee on Education
 
 AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the common core  state
   standards initiative
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

   Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 115 to
 read as follows:
   § 115. COMMON CORE STATE  STANDARDS  INITIATIVE.  NOTWITHSTANDING  ANY
 PROVISION  OF  LAW  TO  THE  CONTRARY,  THE DEPARTMENT SHALL DISCONTINUE
 IMPLEMENTATION OF THE COMMON  CORE  STATE  STANDARDS  DEVELOPED  BY  THE
 COMMON  CORE  STATE  STANDARDS INITIATIVE. ANY ACTIONS TAKEN TO ADOPT OR
 IMPLEMENT THE COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS ARE VOID.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
