Provides that no person holding elected office in this state shall be given priority over healthcare workers, members of vulnerable populations, or first responders for purposes of receiving any vaccine against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) unless such elected official is a healthcare worker, member of a vulnerable population or a first responder, or otherwise qualifies as a member of a group to which priority in COVID-19 vaccination is given.

 Introduced  by  Sen. HELMING -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
   printed to be committed to the Committee on Health
 
 AN ACT prohibiting the prioritization of elected officials over  health-
   care  workers,  members of vulnerable populations, or first responders
   for purposes of receiving any vaccine against COVID-19

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  Notwithstanding any law, rule, regulation or order to the
 contrary, no person holding elected office in this state shall be  given
 priority  over healthcare workers, members of vulnerable populations, or
 first responders for purposes of receiving any vaccine against the novel
 coronavirus (COVID-19) unless such elected official is also a healthcare
 worker, member of a vulnerable  population  or  a  first  responder,  or
 otherwise qualifies as a member of a group to which priority in COVID-19
 vaccination  is given by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
 Nothing in this act shall prohibit  the  administration  of  a  COVID-19
 vaccine to any elected official when such vaccine is widely available to
 the  general  public  or  when  The  Centers  for  Disease  Control  and
 Prevention declare any such person to be eligible to receive one or more
 COVID-19 vaccines. Nothing in this act shall prohibit the administration
 of a second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine  to  a  person  who  has  already
 received the first dose of such vaccine.
   §  2.  This  act  shall take effect immediately and shall apply to all
 elected officials who have not already received  the  first  dose  of  a
 COVID-19 vaccine on such effective date.
