BILL NUMBER: S4865 SPONSOR: SKOUFIS TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the election law, in relation to websites maintained by a board of elections PURPOSE: to require any Board of Elections maintaining a website to use a .gov domain name for such website. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends the elections law by requiring any Board of Elections that maintains a website shall use a .gov domain for such website. Section 2 provides the effective date.

SKOUFIS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Elections AN ACT to amend the election law, in relation to websites maintained by a board of elections THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The election law is amended by adding a new section 3-228 to read as follows: § 3-228. BOARD OF ELECTIONS WEBSITES. ANY BOARD OF ELECTIONS WHICH MAINTAINS A WEBSITE SHALL USE A ".GOV" DOMAIN NAME FOR SUCH WEBSITE. § 2. This act shall take effect one year after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD02133-01-1
