   printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation
 
 AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in  relation  to  exempting
   certain first responders from vehicle registration fees

   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Subdivision 6 of section 401 of the vehicle and traffic law
 is amended by adding a new paragraph c-1 to read as follows:
   C-1. THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SUBDIVISION WITH RESPECT TO THE PAYMENT OF
 REGISTRATION FEES SHALL NOT APPLY TO A PASSENGER OR SUBURBAN TYPE  MOTOR
 VEHICLE  OR  THE  PROVISIONS  OF  SUBDIVISION SEVEN OF THIS SECTION WITH
 RESPECT TO THE PAYMENT OF REGISTRATION FEES SHALL ADDITIONALLY NOT APPLY
 TO ANY AUTO TRUCK OR LIGHT DELIVERY CAR HAVING A MAXIMUM GROSS WEIGHT OF
 LESS THAN SIXTY-FIVE  HUNDRED  POUNDS  WHICH  IS  USED  EXCLUSIVELY  FOR
 PASSENGERS AND OWNED BY ANY CERTIFIED FIRST RESPONDER WHO IS DISABLED AS
 A RESULT OF A CERTIFIED WORLD TRADE CENTER MEDICAL CONDITION.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
