BILL NUMBER: S8116 SPONSOR: CLEARE TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the public authorities law, in relation to prohibiting time limits or curfews on fares provided to students PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To allow students to use their MTA reduced fare passes into the evening. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1: Adds a new section 1266-1 to the public authorities law, prohibits the establishment of time limits or curfews to the student fare program. § 2 sets immediate effective date JUSTIFICATION:

CLEARE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to prohibiting time limits or curfews on fares provided to students THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The public authorities law is amended by adding a new section 1266-l to read as follows: § 1266-L. STUDENT FARE POLICY. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY PROVISION OF LAW, RULE OR REGULATION TO THE CONTRARY, THE AUTHORITY SHALL NOT IMPOSE A TIME LIMIT OR CURFEW ON THE USE OF A FARE PROVIDED AS PART OF A STUDENT FARE PROGRAM. § 2.
