   read once and referred to the Committee on Ways and Means
 
 AN ACT requiring the state of New York to pay all costs associated  with
   the conduct of the August 23, 2022 primary election
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

   Section 1. This act shall be known  and  may  be  cited  as  the  "NYS
 gerrymander failure assistance act".
   §  2.  Notwithstanding any provision of law, rule or regulation to the
 contrary, the state of New York shall pay all costs associated with  the
 primary  election  scheduled to take place on August 23, 2022 for candi-
 dates for the state senate and for the United States House of  Represen-
 tatives.  No  costs  for  the  August 23, 2022 primary election shall be
 borne by any municipality conducting such primary election if such muni-
 cipality conducts a primary election on June 28, 2022.
   § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
