S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 2670 2021-2022 Regular Sessions I N A S S E M B L Y January 19, 2021 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. HYNDMAN -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Health AN ACT to direct the New York state department of health to conduct a study on the incidences of asthma in cities having a population of one hundred thousand or more and to prepare a report THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The commissioner of the New York state department of health is hereby authorized and directed to prepare or have prepared a study of the incidences of asthma in all cities having a population of one hundred thousand or more. The study and report shall include a map of each city indicating each incident of asthma. § 2. The study shall be completed by September thirtieth, two thousand twenty-three. § 3. The report and an interactive map shall be completed and posted on the department of health's website by January first, two thousand twenty-four. § 4. This act shall take effect immediately. Such study shall include an analysis of high risk neighborhoods examining disparities in: income, race and ethnicity, public and private housing, proximity to major sources of air pollution and an evaluation of the effectiveness of existing medical facilities in each city. The study shall include recommendations for evidence-based interventions to address the high burden of asthma in each city included in the study. § 2. The study shall be completed and posted on the department of health's website by September thirtieth, two thousand twenty-three. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
