BILL NUMBER: S146 SPONSOR: THOMAS TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the general business law, in relation to including the promotion and expansion of cricket in the state of New York to the jurisdiction of the state athletic commission PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To include cricket in the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC). SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends section 1004 of the general business law, as added by the Chapter 32 of the laws of 2016, to modify the purpose of NYSAC and add cricket as a sport that NYSAC maintains jurisdiction over. Section 2 establishes the effective date.

THOMAS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to including the promotion and expansion of cricket in the state of New York to the jurisdiction of the state athletic commission THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 1004 of the general business law, as added by chap- ter 32 of the laws of 2016, is amended to read as follows: § 1004. Jurisdiction of the commission. 1. The commission shall have and is hereby vested with the sole direction, management, control and jurisdiction over: [1.] (A) all authorized combative sports; [2.] (B) all licenses or permits granted by the commission to any and all persons or entities who participate in authorized combative sports; [3.] (C) all determinations regarding the authorization of amateur and professional sanctioning entities; [4.] (D) all gyms, clubs, training camps and other organizations that maintain training facilities to prepare persons for participation in authorized professional combative sports; [5.] (E) the promotion of professional wrestling exhibitions to the extent provided for in this article; and [6.] (F) all contracts directly related to the conduct of authorized professional combative sports in the state of New York. [7.] (G) All disclosures to the commission shall be deemed confiden- tial. 2. THE COMMISSION SHALL HAVE AND IS HEREBY VESTED WITH JURISDICTION OVER THE PROMOTION AND EXPANSION OF THE GAME OF CRICKET IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
