BILL NUMBER: S2918 SPONSOR: ADDABBO TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the real property tax law, in relation to establishing a real property tax exemption for veterans who have a one hundred percent service connected disability PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To establish a real property tax exemption for veterans with a 100 percent service connected disability. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Amend the real property tax law by adding a new subdivision 3-a which would mandate an exemption from all taxes imposed upon disabled veterans and his or her spouse, with a one hundred percent service connected disability.

ADDABBO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Veterans, Homeland Securi- ty and Military Affairs AN ACT to amend the real property tax law, in relation to establishing a real property tax exemption for veterans who have a one hundred percent service connected disability THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 458 of the real property tax law is amended by adding a new subdivision 3-a to read as follows: 3-A. REAL PROPERTY OWNED BY A DISABLED VETERAN WHO HAS A ONE HUNDRED PERCENT SERVICE CONNECTED DISABILITY, AND HIS OR HER SPOUSE, AND CONSTI- TUTING THE PRIMARY RESIDENCE OF SUCH PERSONS SHALL BE DEEMED FULLY EXEMPT FROM ALL TAXES IMPOSED UPON SUCH PROPERTY BY A MUNICIPAL CORPO- RATION. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately, and shall apply to assessment rolls prepared on and after January 1, 2021.
