 Introduced  by  Sens.  SANDERS, ADDABBO, GAUGHRAN, MAY -- read twice and
   ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee  on

 AN  ACT  to direct the department of environmental conservation to study
   alternative municipal uses for recycled glass

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1. The department of environmental conservation, in consulta-
 tion with the department of transportation, shall  conduct  a  study  on
 alternative municipal uses for recycled glass including, but not limited
 to,  the  use  of  crushed glass in asphalt, concrete, drainage, roadway
 subgrade, and for the purposes of beach nourishment.
   § 2. The department of environmental conservation shall issue a report
 containing the findings of the study to the temporary president  of  the
 senate,  the  speaker  of the assembly, the chair of the senate environ-
 mental conservation committee, and the chair of  the  assembly  environ-
 mental conservation committee no later than one year after the effective
 date  of  this  act  and  shall submit with this report such legislative
 proposals as it deems necessary to implement its  recommendations.  Such
 report shall also be published on such department's website.
   § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
