BILL NUMBER: S646 SPONSOR: SANDERS TITLE OF BILL: An act to direct the New York state department of health to conduct a study on the incidences of asthma in cities having a population of one hundred thousand or more and to prepare a report PURPOSE: To require the New York State Department of Health to conduct a study on the incidences of asthma in cities having a population over 100,000 people. The study should be completed by September 30, 2021. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: § 1. The commissioner of the New York State Department of Health shall prepare a study of the incidences of asthma in all cities having a popu- lation of one hundred thousand or more. The study and report shall include a map of each city indicating incidents of asthma.

SANDERS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Health AN ACT to direct the New York state department of health to conduct a study on the incidences of asthma in cities having a population of one hundred thousand or more and to prepare a report THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The commissioner of the New York state department of health is hereby authorized and directed to prepare or have prepared a study of the incidences of asthma in all cities having a population of one hundred thousand or more. The study and report shall include a map of each city indicating each incident of asthma. § 2. The study shall be completed by September thirtieth, two thousand twenty-three. § 3. The report and an interactive map shall be completed and posted on the department of health's website by January first, two thousand twenty-four. § 4. This act shall take effect immediately. The study shall include recommendations for evidence-based interventions to address the high burden of asthma in each city included in the study. § 2. The study shall be completed and posted on the department of health's website by September thirtieth, two thousand twenty-three. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
