BILL NUMBER: S6593 SPONSOR: AKSHAR TITLE OF BILL: An act to authorize the town of Binghamton, county of Broome, to alien- ate and discontinue the use of certain parklands for the purpose of accommodating equipment and serving as a training facility for the Town of Binghamton Volunteer Fire Department PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This bill authorizes the Town of Binghamton to transfer parkland to the Town of Binghamton Volunteer Fire Department for training and equipment storage. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1 authorizes the Town of Binghamton to discontinue the use of parklands and alienate such lands to the Binghamton Volunteer Fire Department.

AKSHAR -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government AN ACT to authorize the town of Binghamton, county of Broome, to alien- ate and discontinue the use of certain parklands for the purpose of accommodating equipment and serving as a training facility for the Town of Binghamton Volunteer Fire Department THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subject to the provisions of this act, the town of Bingham- ton, county of Broome, acting by and through its governing body, is hereby authorized to discontinue the use of parklands and alienate such lands more particularly described in section three of this act, to the Town of Binghamton Volunteer Fire Department Station #3, for the purpose of accommodating equipment and serving as a training facility for the Fire Department. § 2. The authorization contained in section one of this act shall take effect only upon the condition that the town of Binghamton shall dedi- cate an amount equal to or greater than the fair market value of the parklands being discontinued towards the acquisition of new parklands and/or capital improvements to existing park and recreational facili- ties. § 3. The parklands authorized by section one of this act to be discon- tinued as parklands are described as follows: All that tract, piece or parcel of land situate in the Town of Bing- hamton, County of Broome and State of New York, described as follows: Being all that parcel of land commencing in the east line of the Old Hawleyton Turnpike at the northwest corner of lands of the party of the second part herein, thence running northerly along the easterly line of the said highway, one hundred and six point three (106.3) feet; thence running east on a line parallel to the original south line of the second party herein two hundred seventy-seven point sixty-four (277.64) feet to EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
