 Introduced  by  Sen.  COONEY  --  (at request of the Department of Motor
   Vehicles) -- read twice and ordered printed, and when  printed  to  be
   committed to the Committee on Transportation
 
 AN  ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to eliminating
   noting an address change on driver licenses and non-driver identifica-
   tion cards

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.    Subdivision 3 of section 492 of the vehicle and traffic
 law, as added by chapter 295 of the laws of 1983, is amended to read  as
 follows:
   3. Change of address. It shall be the duty of every holder of an iden-
 tification  card  to notify the commissioner in writing of any change of
 residence of such holder within ten days after such change  occurs  [and
 to  make  a  notation  of such change of residence on the identification
 card in the place provided by the commissioner].
   § 2. Subdivision 5 of section 505 of the vehicle and traffic  law,  as
 added by chapter 780 of the laws of 1972, is amended to read as follows:
   5. Change of address. It shall be the duty of every licensee to notify
 the  commissioner in writing of any change of residence of such licensee
 within ten days after such change occurs [and to make a notation of such
 change of residence on such license in the place provided by the commis-
 sioner].
   § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
