BILL NUMBER: S7690 SPONSOR: SKOUFIS TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the public health law, in relation to establishing a list of emerging contaminants PURPOSE: This is a chapter amendment that makes changes to provisions of L.2021, c.716, to establish a list of emerging contaminants. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: The underlying chapter directed the Drinking Water Quality Council to automatically add 40 substances to the list of emerging contaminants. This legislation amends the underlying chapter to split up the 40 compounds to require the following: 23äwill be automatically added, 14 will be presumptively included until a final determination is made on their inclusion by January 1, 2024, and three have been removed. SKOUFIS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to establishing a list of emerging contaminants THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph c of subdivision 3 and subdivision 13 of section 1112 of the public health law, paragraph c as amended and paragraph 13 as added by a chapter of the laws of 2021 amending the public health law relating to establishing a list of emerging contaminants, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 1759-A and A. 126-A, are amended and para- graph d of subdivision 3 is relettered paragraph e and a new paragraph d is added to read as follows: c.
