BILL NUMBER: S7720 SPONSOR: THOMAS TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the general business law, in relation to the jurisdic- tion of the state athletic commission; and to amend the economic devel- opment law, in relation to the authorization of the department of economic development to give a preference to any tourist promotion agen- cy that is promoting the sport of cricket PURPOSE: This is a chapter amendment that makes changes to provisions of L.2021, c.660, to clarify a provision concerning promoting the game of cricket. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: This legislation amends the underlying chapter by shifting responsibil- ity for promoting the game of cricket from the State Athletic Commission (SAC) to the Department of Economic Development, because SAC jurisdic- tion is limited to combative sports (cricket is not a combative sport).
