BILL NUMBER: S7769 SPONSOR: KAPLAN TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend a chapter of the laws of 2021, amending the real proper- ty law relating to requiring real estate brokers and salespersons to receive implicit bias training as part of their license renewal process, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 538-B and A. 4638-A, in relation to the effectiveness thereof PURPOSE: This is a chapter amendment that changes the effective date of L.2021, c.686. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: This legislation amends the effective date of the underlying chapter from 180 days after enactment to nine months after enactment.

KAPLAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend a chapter of the laws of 2021, amending the real proper- ty law relating to requiring real estate brokers and salespersons to receive implicit bias training as part of their license renewal proc- ess, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 538-B and A. 4638-A, in relation to the effectiveness thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 2 of a chapter of the laws of 2021, amending the real property law relating to requiring real estate brokers and sales- persons to receive implicit bias training as part of their license renewal process, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 538-B and A. 4638-A, is amended to read as follows: § 2. This act shall take effect [on the one hundred eightieth day] NINE MONTHS after it shall have become a law[, provided, however, that if chapter 392 of the laws of 2019 shall not have taken effect on or before such date then this act shall take effect on the same date and in the same manner as such chapter of the laws of 2019 takes effect]. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD04889-06-2
