BILL NUMBER: S7818 SPONSOR: HINCHEY TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to certain portions of the New York state thruway where maximum dimension and weight limitations of vehicle shall not be applicable PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To make a technical amendment to a chapter authorizing tandem trucks to use a portion of the road past Thruway Exit 25-A. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one makes a technical amendment to clarify that tandem trucks would still be authorized to use a tandem lot access road that was previously authorized in statute prior to the underlying chapter. Section two of this bill provides the effective date.

HINCHEY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to certain portions of the New York state thruway where maximum dimension and weight limitations of vehicle shall not be applicable THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph (w) of subdivision 16 of section 385 of the vehi- cle and traffic law, as amended by a chapter of the laws of 2021, amend- ing the vehicle and traffic law relating to the maximum dimension and weight limitations of certain vehicles proceeding to and from a portion of the New York state thruway, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 6332-A and A. 7417-A, is amended to read as follows: (w) Within a distance of approximately 1.9 miles from the New York state thruway interchange 25A, traveling in a westbound direction along interstate route 88 to exit 25 to state route 7, and to a left on Becker road traveling in a southbound direction on Becker road for approximate- ly .2 miles to the NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY INTERCHANGE 25A TANDEM LOT ACCESS ROAD, OR TO THE intersection of Becker road and state route 7, and traveling in an eastbound direction for approximately 1.4 miles on state route 7 to the intersection of state route 7 and Dunnsville road and then traveling in a southbound direction on Dunnsville road for approximately .3 miles where the commissioner of transportation deter- mines that the vehicle or combination of vehicles could operate safely along the designated route and that no applicable federal law, regu- lation or other requirement prohibits the operation of such vehicle or combination of vehicles on such route. § 2. This act shall take effect on the same date and in the same manner as a chapter of the laws of 2021, amending the vehicle and traf- fic law relating to the maximum dimension and weight limitations of certain vehicles proceeding to and from a portion of the New York state thruway, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 6332-A and A. 7417-A, takes effect.
