BILL NUMBER: S9570 SPONSOR: BROOKS TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the general business law, in relation to certain rental vehicle protections PURPOSE: The purpose of this legislation is to notify persons who rent large vehicles of the where abouts of height restricted bridges. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1. amends section 396-z of the general business law by adding a new paragraph f to provide that any person who rents a vehicle with a height of greater than six feet will be made aware of the locations of height restricted bridges. Section 2. is the enacting clause.

BROOKS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to certain rental vehicle protections THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 10 of section 396-z of the general business law is amended by adding a new paragraph (f) to read as follows: (F) FOR ALL VEHICLES WITH A HEIGHT OF GREATER THAN SIX FEET A RENTAL VEHICLE COMPANY SHALL FURNISH WITH EACH RENTAL VEHICLE PURSUANT TO AN AGREEMENT A LIST OF ALL HEIGHT RESTRICTED BRIDGES IN NEW YORK STATE. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately; provided, however, that the amendments to section 396-z of the general business law made by section one of this act shall not affect the expiration of such section and shall be deemed to expire therewith.
