ROSENTHAL -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to increasing the penalties for leaving the scene of an accident involving an elec- tric scooter without reporting in the second degree and leaving the scene of an accident involving an electric scooter without reporting in the first degree THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 1287 of the vehicle and traffic law, as added by section 10 of part XX of chapter 58 of the laws of 2020, is amended to read as follows: 2. Leaving the scene of an incident involving an electric scooter without reporting in the second degree is a [violation] CLASS A MISDE- MEANOR. § 2. Subdivision 2 of section 1288 of the vehicle and traffic law, as added by section 10 of part XX of chapter 58 of the laws of 2020, is amended to read as follows: 2. Leaving the scene of an incident involving an electric scooter without reporting in the first degree is a class [B misdemeanor] E FELO- NY. § 3. This act shall take effect on the sixtieth day after it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implementation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and completed on or before such effective date.
