 AN ACT prohibiting the approval of a  charter  school  application  when
   such school would operate within the Buffalo city school district; and
   providing for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof

   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Notwithstanding any provision of law, rule or regulation to
 the contrary, commencing on July 1, 2023, no application to establish  a
 charter  school  submitted pursuant to section 2851 of the education law
 shall be approved by any charter entity if such proposed charter  school
 would  operate  within  the Buffalo city school district. Furthermore, a
 charter that has been surrendered,  revoked  or  terminated  within  the
 Buffalo city school district on or after July 1, 2023, including a char-
 ter that has not been renewed by action of its charter entity, shall not
 be reissued within the Buffalo city school district.
   §  2.  This  act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be
 deemed repealed June 30, 2026.
