 AN ACT to amend the correction law, in relation to providing incarcerat-
   ed individuals with access to breast cancer screenings and information
   about breast self-examinations

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  This act shall be known and may be cited as the "Eleonora
 legacy act".
   § 2. The correction law is amended by adding a new section 627 to read
 as follows:
   § 627. ROUTINE  MAMMOGRAM  SCREENINGS.  ROUTINE  MAMMOGRAM  SCREENINGS
 SHALL  BE  OFFERED  EVERY  TWO YEARS AT NO COST TO INDIVIDUALS HOUSED IN
 STATE AND LOCAL CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES USED FOR THE GENERAL CONFINEMENT
 OF INMATES AND IN ANY OTHER STATE OR LOCAL  FACILITY  WHERE  INDIVIDUALS
 ARE DETAINED OR CONFINED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES.
   §  3.  Section  140  of  the correction law is amended by adding a new
 subdivision 5 to read as follows:
   5. THE DEPARTMENT SHALL, TO THE  BEST  OF  ITS  ABILITY,  PROVIDE  ALL
 SENTENCED  INCARCERATED INDIVIDUALS WITH EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOCUSED ON
 THE IMPORTANCE OF PREVENTATIVE HEALTH CARE MEASURES THAT  INCLUDES,  BUT
 IS NOT LIMITED TO, BREAST SELF-EXAMINATIONS.
   § 4. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
 it shall become have a law.
