   tee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions
 
 AN  ACT  to  amend  the public service law, in relation to providing for
   unlisted telephone numbers  without  charge  for  certain  victims  of
   domestic violence

   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Section 91 of the public service law is amended by adding a
 new subdivision 15 to read as follows:
   15. EVERY LOCAL EXCHANGE TELEPHONE CORPORATION SHALL, WHERE  AN  ORDER
 OF  PROTECTION EXISTS AND AT THE CUSTOMER'S REQUEST (ACCOMPANYING A COPY
 OF THE ORDER), WAIVE THE CHARGES THEREFOR AND OMIT FROM ANY DIRECTORY OF
 TELEPHONE NUMBERS PUBLISHED BY IT OR AN AFFILIATED COMPANY  THE  LISTING
 OF  ANY  PERSON  WHO  IS  A  VICTIM  OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, AS DEFINED IN
 SECTION FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY-NINE-A OF THE SOCIAL SERVICES  LAW,  AND  FOR
 WHOSE  BENEFIT  ANY ORDER OF PROTECTION, OTHER THAN A TEMPORARY ORDER OF
 PROTECTION, HAS BEEN ISSUED BY A COURT OF  COMPETENT  JURISDICTION,  FOR
 THE DURATION OF SUCH ORDER.
   § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred twentieth day after
 it  shall  have  become  a law. Effective immediately the public service
 commission is authorized to promulgate any and all rules and regulations
 and take any other measures necessary  to  implement  this  act  on  its
 effective date on or before such date.
