 AN ACT to amend the  not-for-profit  corporation  law,  in  relation  to
   expanding the purposes of certain firemen's benevolent associations
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. The not-for-profit corporation law is amended by  adding  a
 new section 206 to read as follows:
 § 206. EXPANSION OF PURPOSE; CERTAIN FIREMEN'S BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATIONS.
   AN INCORPORATED FIREMEN'S BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION CREATED BY ACT OF THE
 LEGISLATURE  MAY  INCLUDE  THE FOLLOWING IN THE PURPOSES OF SUCH ASSOCI-
 ATION WITHOUT AN ADDITIONAL ACT OF THE LEGISLATURE:
   (A) TO PROMOTE FRIENDLY ASSOCIATION FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE  MEMBERS
 OF THE CORPORATION;
   (B)  TO  PROMOTE  RELATIONS BETWEEN THE MEMBERS OF THE CORPORATION AND
 THE LOCAL COMMUNITY;
   (C) TO PROVIDE RELIEF, AID AND ASSISTANCE TO THOSE MEMBERS  AND  THEIR
 FAMILIES WHO ARE INJURED, DISABLED OR INDIGENT;
   (D)  TO PROVIDE FOR THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE CORPO-
 RATION;
   (E) TO MAINTAIN SUITABLE HEADQUARTERS FOR THE MEMBERS  OF  THE  CORPO-
 RATION;
   (F) TO ACQUIRE REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY SUCH AS MAY BE NECESSARY FOR
 THE PURPOSES SET FORTH IN THIS SECTION;
   (G)  TO STUDY AND DISSEMINATE AMONG THE MEMBERS OF THE CORPORATION THE
 MOST EFFICIENT MANNER OF FIGHTING FIRES; AND
   (H) TO PROMOTE THE VOLUNTEER FIRE SERVICE  WITHIN  THE  TERRITORY  NOW
 SERVED  OR  WHICH MAY HEREAFTER BE SERVED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ASSOCI-
 ATED WITH SUCH CORPORATION.
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
