   tee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions
 
 AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to establishing
   a central business district toll exemption for officers and  employees
   of  the  city  of  New York, first responders, physicians, nurses, and
   anyone entering the central business district for medical treatment
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Section 1704-a of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by
 adding a new subdivision 2-a to read as follows:
   2-A.  (A)  NOTWITHSTANDING  ANY  PROVISION  OF LAW TO THE CONTRARY, NO
 OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK, FIRST RESPONDER,  PHYSICIAN
 OR  NURSE LICENSED PURSUANT TO THE EDUCATION LAW, OR ANYONE ENTERING THE
 CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT FOR  MEDICAL  TREATMENT  SHALL  BE  CHARGED  A
 CENTRAL  BUSINESS  DISTRICT  TOLL IF SUCH FIRST RESPONDER IS EMPLOYED BY
 THE STATE  OR  ANY  MUNICIPALITY  THEREOF.  APPLICATION  FOR  SUCH  TOLL
 EXEMPTION  SHALL  BE MADE IN SUCH MANNER AS PRESCRIBED BY THE TRIBOROUGH
 BRIDGE AND TUNNEL AUTHORITY AND SHALL CONTAIN SUCH  INFORMATION  AS  THE
 AUTHORITY MAY REASONABLY REQUIRE.
   (B)  FOR  THE  PURPOSES  OF  THIS SUBDIVISION, "FIRST RESPONDER" SHALL
 INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO A MEMBER OF A POLICE  DEPARTMENT  OR  FIRE
 DEPARTMENT,   AN   EMERGENCY  MEDICAL  TECHNICIAN,  CORRECTION  OFFICER,
 DISPATCHER, OR OTHER UNIFORMED OFFICER.
   § 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day  after  it  shall
 have become a law.
