SMULLEN -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Health AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to rural ambulance support THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 365-h of the social services law is amended by adding a new subdivision 7 to read as follows: 7. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY CONTRARY PROVISION OF LAW, AND SUBJECT TO FEDERAL FINANCIAL PARTICIPATION, THE COMMISSIONER OF HEALTH SHALL MAKE ADJUSTMENTS TO PAYMENTS UNDER THIS SECTION, FOR THE PURPOSES OF PROVID- ING INCREASED ACCESS TO MEDICAID BASIC LIFE SUPPORT, ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT LEVEL 1, ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT LEVEL 2, AND SPECIALTY CARE TRANSPORT IN RURAL COMMUNITIES. FOR PURPOSES OF THIS SECTION, "RURAL COMMUNITIES" INCLUDES ANY CITY, TOWN, OR VILLAGE WITH A POPULATION DENSITY LESS THAN TWO HUNDRED FIFTY PEOPLE PER SQUARE MILE LOCATED WITH- IN A COUNTY WITH A POPULATION OF LESS THAN THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND PEOPLE AND A POPULATION DENSITY OF TWO HUNDRED FIFTY PEOPLE PER SQUARE MILE. UP TO TEN MILLION DOLLARS SHALL BE AVAILABLE FOR SUCH PURPOSES PURSUANT TO THIS SUBDIVISION. § 2.
