 AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation  to  increasing
   penalties  imposed on owners for failure of an operator to comply with
   posted speed limits in the city of New York
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1. Subdivision (e) of section 1180-b of the vehicle and traf-
 fic law, as added by chapter 189 of the laws of 2013,    is  amended  to
 read as follows:
   (e)  An owner liable for a violation of subdivision (b), (c), (d), (f)
 or (g) of section eleven hundred eighty of this article  pursuant  to  a
 demonstration  program  established  pursuant  to  this section shall be
 liable for monetary penalties in accordance with a schedule of fines and
 penalties to be promulgated by the parking violations bureau of the city
 of New York. The liability of the owner pursuant to this  section  shall
 not  exceed  [fifty  dollars  for  each  violation]  THE  DOLLAR AMOUNTS
 PRESCRIBED HEREIN FOR THE  FOLLOWING  NUMBER  OF  VIOLATIONS,  COMMITTED
 WITHIN  A  PERIOD  OF  TWO  YEARS:  FIFTY  DOLLARS  FOR  THE  FIRST  TWO
 VIOLATIONS, ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR A THIRD VIOLATION, ONE HUNDRED TWEN-
 TY-FIVE DOLLARS FOR A FOURTH VIOLATION, ONE HUNDRED  FIFTY DOLLARS FOR A
 FIFTH VIOLATION, TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR  A  SIXTH  VIOLATION,  AND  TWO
 HUNDRED  FIFTY  DOLLARS  FOR  A  SEVENTH  AND ANY SUBSEQUENT VIOLATIONS;
 provided, however, that such parking violations bureau may  provide  for
 an  additional  penalty  not  in  excess of twenty-five dollars for each
 violation for the failure to respond to a notice of liability within the
 prescribed time period.
   § 2. This  act  shall take effect on the sixtieth day after  it  shall
 have become a law; provided that the amendments to section 1180-b of the
 vehicle and traffic law made by section one of this act shall not affect
 the  expiration  of such section and shall expire and be deemed repealed
 therewith.
